I'm looking for something very very warm but not too bulky or long, something hip length. I have a Didrikons coat that's a few years old now and doesn't seem as warm as it once was. I'm pathetically cold in winter despite multiple thermal vests, socks and scarves. Thanks 🙂

I think down is the warmest for least bulk, but no use in the rain.

Apparently the stitching makes a difference - if it's stitched through vs if it's box like.

If you find an affordable warm coat, please let me know!

I bought a down ‘puffer’ last winter and it’s amazing. Mine is jack wolf skin but my husband’s is north face. Both cost about £100. I am never cold in mine!
But totally shit in the rain.

Have you got glove liners as well as gloves?

I did have glove liners, but lost one last year. Thanks for reminding me to get another pair!
I am looking at north face on eBay . The 800/900 fill seem to be the warmest.

I don't feel the cold particularly and have weathered the last few winters in the south with nothing more than a North Face gilet (my poor permanently cold mother develops an almost permanent twitch if we go out together!)
DH will often comment when I come in how toasty my back is and this seems to keep me warm all day. As PP's have said they're useless in the rain but a reasonable kagoul type jacket over a down coat would be lovely and warm.

Ps- we're also looking at a PolarSeal jumper for DM for Christmas. They're quite pricey but look amazing Smile

Thank you :)
