Surely that's the point of trick or treating? Eating the sweets you get?

Funclesmuck · 04/10/2018 18:02

Just eat a cross section yourself, it’s the only way to keep the children safe.

Conseulabananahammock · 04/10/2018 18:03

I eat most of them... You know safety reasons and all that ...

Ooh and also lick all the rest before they eat them.

Conseulabananahammock · 04/10/2018 18:08

Absolutely. I may have lied a little. I actually eat like all of them... My kids don't really do sweets so I just get them a chocolate bar or something. In my defence if we get given fruit they can totally have that Grin

The Rules:

Buy a bucket in advance along with a big tub of haribo or similar and try not to eat it all yourself beforehand

Carve a pumpkin, light it and put it outside your house.

Get dressed up as a ghost or whatever.

Go out with your bucket and knock on other people's doors (only those that ate decorated) shouting, "Trick or Treat!" When someone comes to the door, take some of the sweets on offer, say thank you and leave. Repeat at other houses until your bucket is overflowing with goodies.

Go home, turn on your spooky lights and return the favour to other callers.

Eat the sweets gradually over the course of the next few hours days weeks. Chuck away any that look dodgy.

HopeGarden · 04/10/2018 18:10

The unofficial rule round here is that you only knock on doors of houses with Halloween decorations up.

Conseulabananahammock · 04/10/2018 18:10

"Only do the decorated houses" - I live by this rule!
Although sometimes I knock for ages on the ones who pretend not to be in but you can see the tv... because I'm a bit of a twat

thinkfast · 04/10/2018 18:12

We only do decorated houses of people we already know

Conseulabananahammock · 04/10/2018 18:18

People seem really miserable compared to when I was little. I used to go carolling aswel. No one seems to do that anymore

Conseulabananahammock · 04/10/2018 18:23

Also penny for the guy... where did that go? World's gone mad I tell you!

SneakyGremlins · 04/10/2018 18:37

I'll go carolling with you Grin

lovethesupport · 05/10/2018 08:03

I must admit. I do tend to indulge in the kids sweets when they are in bed haha
