Friends 2 year old DD just come down with Hand, Foot & Mouth. She's also being treated for some infected blisters around the mouth area. They are due to visit in 2 weeks time but will she still be contagious to my 2 year old DS? NHS website states the first 5 days are the most contagious but it can be carried for days - a couple weeks. WWYD? Continue with plans for visit or reschedule?

I think after that amount of time you'd probably be fine, but obviously you can never be 100% confident when it comes to viruses like that as they are super contagious. If it's doing the rounds in your area in schools/nurseries you may find he gets it anyway despite your best efforts. Both mine have had it then I caught it from them. I think we were pretty much over it after a week or so. Latest advice isn't even to keep kids off school/nursery when they have it so it spreads like wildfire.

If it were me I'd go as planned
