Dog-friendly cafe/restaurants in Hampshire and West Sussex?

Any recommendations? Preferably within half an hour of Portsmouth or Chichester in any direction.

Looking for a nice (not necessarily posh) place to take my parents and their dumbass dog for lunch at the weekend.

Thanks

Does it have to be a cafe or restaurant? You might find that there are more dog friendly pubs in the area that do good food.

No, not fussy about what kind of eaterie - just want to go somewhere there is food and the dog doesn't have to stay outside.

We've been to the Fox and Hounds at Funtington and that's nice but I'd like to add a new place to the list if possible.

I haven't been to any of these places for years now, so I don't know what the food is like these days, but :

The Anchor Bleu at Bosham, near Chichester www.anchorbleu.co.uk/index

The Six Bells at Lyminster, near Littlehampton www.thesixbellslyminster.co.uk

The Royal Oak (AKA The Pink Pub) at North Bersted, near Chichester www.thepinkpub.co.uk

The Lamb Inn near West Wittering, near Chichester www.thelambwittering.co.uk

But you'll have to check whether they're dog friendly (although The Lamb's website does say they are dog friendly).

I'm not in the area, but had a similar issue recently and found many pubs had dog friendly areas.

Typed that reply nearly an hour ago before the other posts, so is useless!

The Pink Pub is currently a little oasis in the middle of horrendous road works with four way traffic lights.

The Gribble Inn at Oving is nice.

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 04/10/2018 09:26

Ooh yes - I had forgotten The Gribble. Haven't been there for years! I think I'll try there, thank you.

Breezes Cafe in Hill Head is very dog friendly and next to the beach, so dog can be walked beforehand.

Tiffins in Petworth. Fab place with lovely food. You could have a walk in Petworth Park first.

BigGreenOlives · 04/10/2018 10:08

West Dean College & Gardens, you can walk up on to the Trundle and then have lunch in the cafe. The Horse & Groom in East Ashling, very much a ‘normal’ pub, not Gastro but good reliable food & in between Portsmouth & Chi (closer to Chi).

I think you can access the cafe at the Weald & Downland Museum in Singleton without having to pay for entry, beautiful location.

Boston Tea Party in Chichester is very dog and parent friendly.

Red Lion at Chalton, near Horndean or The Hampshire Hog also near Horndean. Both are dog friendly.

The Boat yard Cafe at Chichester Marina.
