Ds was tripped up at school today. he’s 15. He was briefly knocked out.

School called me and I picked him up. He’s got a bit of a head ache, he says his neck aches.

Do thinks he should stay off tomorrow. I think if he feels fine then he can go in.

Was he assessed for a concussion? I'm no medic but aren't they symptoms?

Perfectly1mperfect · 03/10/2018 23:22

I think the advice if you have been knocked out is to go to hospital. I think he should be checked as soon as possible. Hope he's ok.

I have brain ache from trying to work out the title of the thread! Smile
I wouldn't send him in but I am overprotective and a worrit. (Is worrit a word? I'm worried it isn't now Confused).

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 03/10/2018 23:28

Has he been seen by a doctor at least? Plus he needs someone to be with him tonight, waking him frequently. Please Google concussion.
I would take (and have) any of my DC who were knocked unconscious for a medical assessment. Checking his neck etc etc

LoniceraJaponica · 03/10/2018 23:30

If he was knocked he should gave seen a medical professional.

HoofWankingSpangleCunt · 03/10/2018 23:31

You want to send him in to school? Why are you asking Mumsnet. Clearly you aren't a medical professional so why on earth aren't you asking one of those? I'm premenstrual, perimenopausal and tired. I'm going to step away now before I say something I might regret.

CRikey, I have no idea what happened to the title.

I rang 111 earlier after it happened and they said just keep an eye on him. Sickness. Headache would be expected but worsening would need attention.

Call 111 and see what they say?

Smellyoulateralligator · 03/10/2018 23:34

Keep him off and keep an eye on him. Watch him like a hawk. No screens. I’d have taken him - how is he now?

I think I would keep him off school tomorrow then and check on him overnight and tomorrow just to be sure he's ok.

LondonLassInTheCountry · 03/10/2018 23:37

Sickness after a head injury isnt good.

If my child was knocked out, if only briefly. He would be seeing a doctor.

I had concussion, it lasted 3 WEEKS

Spotsbeforemyeyes · 03/10/2018 23:38

Yes I’ll keep him off. I let him watch tv when he came home but no screens. HE ate dinner normally.

If he’s still got a headache in the morning, I’ll take him up. Thanks.

london he didn’t have sickness. They said to look out for that.

Glad you got medical advice, OP, I'd certainly be keeping a close eye on him.
