I am NEVER doing MIL a favour again!

(Lighthearted. MIL is lovely and didn't do it on purpose)

MIL told me, when I picked DD up from her this afternoon, that she'd caught the mouse that's been eating her bird food and was going to call her brother to take it away and release it somewhere. So far, so fair enough. MIL is scared of mice and FIL is not well, brother would be very happy to do it, but I offer, to save him the job.

Off we go to a local, but not too local, stream and bushes sort of area. It would probably prefer somebody's kitchen, but that's not on the list of options. I hand DD the mouse trap, and watch her face fall as she opens it. That ain't no mouse. The trap is full of SLUGS!!!!! MIL, being scared of mice, hadn't dared open it to check but had assumed that a shut trap that felt like there was something in it, had caught a mouse.

Slugs are the vilest creatures ever to slither on the earth, and I would rather have a houseful of mice than a single slug. I'm decidedly more disturbed by this than DD, thank goodness, and the trap is deslugged and soaking in a bucket of boiling disinfectanty water outside the back door.

Anyone else tried to do a small favour that went slightly to fuck?

I also attempted to kindly release a mouse back into the wild after being humanely caught by a relative. The bastard mouse ran straight up my trouser leg and I jad to dance around the woods in my pants with my trousers round my ankles to get the bloody thing to take up its place in the wild and not in my trousers!
