"Everyone has the right to freedom of expression. This right shall include freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart information and ideas without interference by public authority and regardless of frontiers"
I wonder about whether we truly have free speech at the moment. There are so many cases just in my every day where 'offence' can by taken at every given opportunity, so you end up just not saying anything, which makes me think we are NOT free to express our opinion anymore.
For example, I happen to think that the faith of Islam is oppressive to women but to say that I am labelled a racist, or worse it is classed as hate speech. You can look at the definition of free speech and I am simply expressing an opinion, I'm not harming anyone or oppressing anyone myself, yet I am not allowed to express it. This is not just about Islam, it is about trans activism, it is about gender norms, it is about no platforming. For me, the moment we stop people expressing views we are on the road to ruin, yet we seem hell bent on not allowing people to express opinions, particularly when they do not fit the 'right on' and 'virtue signalers' box. You gotta fit the mould before you speak.
I am not Katie Hopkins, but I agree with the principle that even she should be allowed to express her opinion. That's free speech.
