Reducing plastic waste - Reusable sanitary towel recommendations

I have been inspired by the BBC programme the other night on reducing the plastic we use in our house. I was looking into sanitary products, I dont fancy a moon cup and dont use tampons, has anyone got a good recommendation for Eco sanitary towels please?

Ideally, Id like to use some that have no plastic in them at all, but even some branded as eco friendly do still have plastic in them to waterproof them. They're quite expensive, so I dont want to do a lot of trial and error if people here have recommendations.

I'd be glad if you could share your experiences.

I'm menopausal now, but I used to use honouryourflow ones and found them to be great. They come in all sizes and were soft and comfy, no leaks.

Thank you Cities, I did look at them but some of their products have plastic in them.

I'd suggest making your own. Soft terry cloth folded and shaped as you like them, with a piece of Velcro sewn on the back, seems like a plan to me.

Honour your Flow.
Loads of pads without plastic. Most of mine are wool backed and there's never been an accident.
They've a 20% off every item tonight. No code is needed.

Argh i think I've accidentally shared a link which has my details on it!? Can anyone see my address and stuff on that link?

The Pad Lady on Etsy, exceptional customer service! I got her period pants and they are also really comfy!

Intheprimeoflime · 03/10/2018 21:18

Ahh they've taken it down for me. Sorry folks!

walkingintherain23 · 03/10/2018 21:35

Pretty period on Facebook and Etsy makes great pads, so many patterns to choose from too.

SpidersWithBellsOn · 03/10/2018 21:51

How thick are the HYF pads? Would buy but they only really describe length. I want something the size/coverage of a normal pad but thinner, as a mooncup backup.

citiesofbismuth · 03/10/2018 23:29

@spiders it'll describe the thickness in the description, just get a light flow type and I think they do panty liners as well which would be okay for a mooncup backup.

TheFurryMenace · 09/10/2018 12:23

Thanks everyone, unfortunately HYF are out of stock of the wool backed ones in the size and colour I need (black!).

Thanks Dr Spouse, I'll check out the recommendation Recognise you from the beeswax wrap thread!

Thanks for the other recommendations, I'll check them out.
