Can someone explain transgender to me

I can't work out whether a transgender woman is a woman identifying as a man or a man identifying as a woman. Which way round is it? Not that it matters in my life, I'm just wondering.

A man identifying as a woman

A transwoman is a person who was born male and feels they should have been born female, so will take steps to ‘present’ as a woman. That’s probably the most neutral explanation I think?

The way it is described sometimes is that their ‘assigned at birth’ gender is male but they ‘identify’ as female.

You aren't assigned a gender at birth.

DeusEx
That's a transsexual.

Transgender is when someone of one sex says they are another, it includes Sissy and cross dressing fetishes and requires no presenting of the sex they say they are.

Big difference but similar words.

In your OP a transwoman is anyone born male who says they are female. This can big massive 6 foot "women" with beards and a penis" Or actual transexuals who feel they were born in the wrong body and want to get on with their lives.

Thank you, just so I've got it clear, a transX is when the X is as the person is identifying now? Confused
