How tall are your 9 year old boys?

Mine is 135cm and shoe size 6. Think his height is probably average but shoe size seems quite big. Do you think this means he will be tall? We are only average sized so I’m not sure.

I know you said boys but my 9yo DD is 151cm and shoe size 5.5 - so his feet do seem big for his height.

My just turned 8 year old is 135cm and shoe size 5, so another year to go compared with your son.

His older brothers are all tall and have big feet so looks like he is following suit, there are only 3 other children in his class the same height as him, most of the others are noticeably shorter. 2 of his friends in his class are similar height with each other but one has size 3 feet and the other has a childs size 12 feet!

It can be hard to judge how tall your children will be, especially compared with other children, as they all have growth spurts at different times though. Your son might have been growing fast up to now and could slow down a bit, he might have been growing slowly and have lots more growing/growth spurts to have, he might have grown steadily and stay growing that way or slow down or speed up, it's hard to tell.

I think there are growth charts online you can get a rough idea of how tall your children could end up, worked out from using his parents heights etc. I don't know how accurate they are, but if you're interested you could give them a google.

My ds is ten but was a shoe size 4-5 at nine...he is pretty tall. Size 6 at nine does sound fairly big but I think children nowadays are so much taller than when I was a child.

At 9 he was 145cm and size 6 shoe size. I’m tall, DH is average . His little brother is even taller for his age - 7yrs old and already 135cm!

I know I’m being annoying cos I’m not your requested demographic. However I think his feet are bigger than average but it doesn’t really matter.

Dd (just 8)is 138 cm and size 13 feet. I worry one day she’ll topple over Grin

Ds is 11, 158cm tall and size 5 feet

There's no real way of knowing at this age. as already said, they have growth spurts at different times, hit puberty at different times. Have a look at the charts in your red book. I think this is them but I haven't double checked www.rcpch.ac.uk/sites/default/files/Boys_2-18_years_growth_chart.pdf

My DS1 was bigger than that at 9. But my dad was 6ft 4 and he's showing all the signs of taking after him (he's now 170cm at 11 with size 8 feet - he still isn't the tallest in his class though!)

I reached 5 ft 5 at 10 years old. Size 7 feet.
I'm 44 now and I'm still 5ft 5 with size 7 feet. I'm considerably wider though Grin

10 in December. 145cm & just going into size 3 shoes. Among the tallest in his class, but smaller feet than many.

My DS will be 9 next week. He is 121cm and size 12 feet. He is really dinky though, compared to the other boys in his class.

Like sirzy not quite 9 yet - 2 weeks to go - but 132cm tall and size 2 feet. I can’t imagine him having my size feet - his shoes already look big Grin But it will happen as it should! I said to h the other day that he won’t need his booster soon. Now that is a new stage!

Size 6 feet??? Shock wow!

My 9yo is pretty pocket-sized- he's about 135cm and size 1 feet. He's in proportion though, just meant to be small. It means I can still carry him and snuggle him easily! Grin

It’s funny how they vary so much. I’m hoping his feet slow down now as he has cost me a fortune. Will be interesting to see if he becomes tall. He’s had quite a growth spurt lately so he may slow down now but at 135cm he’s not particularly tall (especially compared to his feet!) will check out that growth chart!

my 10 year old son is almost my height 5'1/155cm and his shoe size is 5, his feet are not too much smaller than mine... his father is 6'4 though and my dad was 6'2

I’ll measure him when he gets home, but my mum is 5ft 1 and he’s not far off being as tall as her. He has size 7 feet. He’s always been tall for his age.
