Function room in a nice pub would be ideal but have exhausted all options
Restaurants - considered zills and -1331.
Any suggestions, I am getting a bit panicked!

Have you tried Kennedy's? They have a small room behind the bar that we often use for work socials. It probably holds 30-40, they do good buffets too!

StealthPolarBear · 03/10/2018 09:02

No this is new... Thanks! Perfect size too

The lysander arms on manor way may be a little too far from the city centre for you, but has done a couple of functions for me very well( and not overly expensive). Good big car park etc.

The Black Swan has a function room and I think they do a buffet as well: www.blackswanyork.com/. It's a lovely old pub with wonky floors.

StealthPolarBear · 03/10/2018 09:06

Afraid black Swan has been checked.
I am considering non City centre as I get desperate so will look into lysander arms thank you.

City centre or outwith?
I'd look at the Winning Post on Bishy Rd or the Gillygate. Trinacria on Bishy Rd could be an option too. Beppe would look after you. If you want posh you can hire Goddards on Taddy Road for private functions.
Ooo or the Rattle Owl on Micklegate. Clarrie would be able to give you the upstairs room.

I work for one of the places I've mentioned- nowt like free advertising!

MsRinky · 03/10/2018 09:15

Kennedys?

MsRinky · 03/10/2018 09:16

Oops, someone had already suggested that, sorry.

StealthPolarBear · 03/10/2018 09:16

Trinacria is new thank uou. Others sound like I've already checked or too expensive :) gillygate is where I'm currently booked and they're not getting back to me!

What about upstairs in Dusk? My friend hired that out for a party once and it was big enough for 30/40 people

StealthPolarBear · 03/10/2018 09:19

Ooh fantastic. I knew asking mn would help! I will report bsck

Mumsnet and you lot are fantastic. I'm booked into the black swan which I think looks nicer than the place I'd originally booked. It obviously didn't come up as a pub with a function room when I searched. Do you happen to know if there's a fire in the function room and if so can you make it snow just a little bit in November (not enough to prevent people actually coming but enough to make the fire lovely)

The Black Swan is well known for its folk club, they've had a huge reputation for it for as long as I can remember.

StealthPolarBear · 04/10/2018 08:55

I just wish theyd reply to my email!

This is very worrying. Starting to think it's me, I am getting other emails though. Keep checking my junk folder.
