So... Tracy Beaker is getting to me

I was reading to DD when I realised how sad it all is. Don't get me wrong, I know Jacqueline Wilson books are brilliant for children, I just forgot how sad they could be.
Any recommendations for anything as good but not as sad?

I feel like a lot of Jaqueline Wilson books are very depressing through out but the ending always makes up for it. There's not many books out there that don't have that theme (depending on age).
Sorry I can't help on recommendations but that's because I don't think there are many that are a lot happier through out (or maybe I just always seemed to choose the depressing ones 😂).
I hope this boosts your post for someone else to notice it but it is quite late (where I am anyways) so the morning may bring more Mumsnetters out with good book suggestions 🙂

I remember reading Tracy Beaker in class in year 7 for English and it being sad. Isn't that the point of reading though, understanding different experiences? Look how popular the Harry Potter books are or Roald Dahl, they aren't full of the joys of spring but show light in the darkness. Life isn't always great and having something to relate to helps or encourages empathy.
