Mediation at work, what does this mean?

DH has to attend a 'mediation meeting' with his manager and one of his staff. The staff member is constantly off sick plus recently walked out of work when asked to do a job but refused to. DH reported it to his manager. DH hasnt told me about the meeting I saw a letter in his pocket when sorting the washing. Letter said things like to discuss how this staff member can work and communicate with other staff members. What is this meeting?

Why don't you ask dh ?
I mean, it sounds like 'it says on the tin' - a meeting to see how the Manager can take things forward.

They’ll just discuss what your husband reported. I’d be concerned as to why your husband didn’t mention it to you though.

Why ?
I don't discuss the ins and outs of what is going on at work with my dh, and I don't generally know about what is going on at his work, other than things that affect us (Travel) or if there were something that upset one of us.

We both work shifts and not unusual for us to only discuss important things...I will speak to him at 2pm today when he's up from a late night shift Im working now - ships in the night!!!
