How can I pay back a friend who won't let me pay?

I've met a newish friend (not exactly a friend, but the relationship is hard to describe) for coffee a few times now, and each time they have paid. Just out of kindness, not any other reason. I have tried to pay but they always manage to wrangle it so that they pay. What things can I do to make it up to them? I like baking so I was thinking of baking something? Even if they won't let me pay with money, how else can I pay?

Definitely make some cakes! Invite her/him round for some. Or say you made too many and can’t have them go to waste?
If you both have kids, could you invite round after school?
Some people are just generous and happy to treat their friends.

The friend is no doubt really loving your company, for whatever reason. The cake sounds a lovely idea.
