The realisation that I have been someone's real life Bitch Eating Crackers!

I only came across the expression Bitch Eating Crackers for the first time today on another post and had to google to find out what it meant, it has been a real eye opener.

I was that Bitch - one of 3 actually. It explains some seriously crazy reactions to total non issues. I can see now how it developed over a few years and although it doesn't really change anything, it sort of explains why eventually something as simple as offering a cup of tea could invoke stares of pure hatred.

Is this a common thing that people do? Have you been the bitch or the hater and if so did you recognise what was happening?

What?

ZeroFuchsGiven · 02/10/2018 18:48

So someone didn't like you?

Similarly Confused

I suspect that the majority of the MIL and SIL threads are examples of this phenomenon.

Someone doing something which in another friend/relative would be a tiny bit irritating is blown up to huge proportions because the person doing it is already the source of other upset.

I make a conscious effort to maintain good relations with my PIL even though they can be really very difficult. One way I do this by running irritations through this filter:

If my own parents did this, would I be upset?

Often the answer is “yes, I bloody well would” but sometimes it is indeed only annoying because they did it. It does help to keep things in perspective.

Bit confused as to what you’re asking. There’s probably people that annoy me irrationally. Several that annoy me rationally.
Loads I annoy I imagine.

Yeah, I get what you mean OP. Its like when you keep someone you dislike on Facebook so you can hate-read their posts. Immature, I know.
