Asda giving pregnant women bottle of champagne

Just reading this story, asda driver refuses to help a pregnant woman carry shopping up to her flat. Even more crazy is that they apologised with flowers and a bottle of champagne. Cus this is just what you want when you're 20 weeks pregnant, a gift you have to stare at in the cupboard for the next 5 months... hmm www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-45705896

It’ll be a nice treat to look forward to when the baby arrives.

2cats2many · 02/10/2018 15:23

I wouldn't have said no.

PinkHeart5914 · 02/10/2018 15:24

I’d take a bottle of champagne I could drink to celebrate once baby was born over a bottle of squash tbh!

She also got flowers with presumably she can sit and stare at now

I guess I am just being grumpy as I'm due soon and that would seem more like a daunt than an apology Grin

Taunt...

I think that's a nice gift. Put it away for when the baby is born.

MaMaMaBelle · 02/10/2018 15:59

I agree, I thought that's a terrible gift!

GerdaLovesLili · 02/10/2018 17:54

Champagne is always acceptable.

Just saying, if anyone wants to apologise...

Valanice1989 · 02/10/2018 18:00

Apologising to a pregnant woman by giving her a bottle of champagne is like something out of a sitcom.

Taylor22 · 02/10/2018 18:03

Considering he didn't need to apologise I think he's done a very nice thing.

You know it doesn't go off?

StealthPolarBear · 02/10/2018 18:15

Oh it does. Send it here and I'll dispose of it.

BertrandRussell · 02/10/2018 18:17

You do also know that a glass of champagne is perfectly OK in pregnancy?

Bloody right he should have apologised, although of course he didn't. His bosses did because they recognised his behaviour was disgusting

Oh Bertrand what have you unleashed!?

B00dyM4ry · 02/10/2018 18:32

Tbh - i think at the very least they should have given her shopping for free. Disgraceful.

BertrandRussell · 02/10/2018 18:34

"Oh Bertrand what have you unleashed!?"

Grin S'OK-I'm used to being a pariah!
GerdaLovesLili · 02/10/2018 18:35
Grin
dreamyflower · 02/10/2018 19:55

Haha I thought the same thing when I read this. A nice voucher would have been better imo.

Strippervicar · 02/10/2018 20:01

When I habmve complained to other places or been given a free gift they usually ask if I want champagne or chocolate. I thought they had to now due to people who don't want or like alcohol or don't like chocolates.

Me, I like both.

SoyDora · 02/10/2018 20:02

I’m pregnant and would happily receive a bottle of champagne!

firsttimebabybirther · 02/10/2018 20:03

You're certainly not heavily pregnant at 20 weeks. It doesn't mention wether she said to the driver or not that she's expecting but I would have expected a hand regardless.

sparkling123 · 02/10/2018 22:13

I know you can have a glass, but where is the fun in just a glass Wink

Meet0nTheIedge · 02/10/2018 22:17

Pregnant or not, I'd want a voucher, not a bottle of something I don't like.
