What birthday/Christmas gifts to get second child?

My newest grandchild is the same sex as my first so has all the lovely clothes from her to wear . Same goes for all the toys and books waiting for when she is old enough for them. So until she is older and develops her own likes and dislikes she has all the clothes, books, baby toys, Lego, playmobil, outdoor play things etc that she could possibly want. So what can I get her for birthday/Christmas? It’s really easy to choose things the oldest will enjoy but buying clothes, books, baby toys for the little one seems to be buying for the sake of buying. What do you get your littlest for presents please?

For the first 2 years of Christmas/birthday for ds2 we asked for money which we put towards a big climbing frame that both boys can play on, as like you say, most of the toys have been handed down. We have found that once they start running about, not all of the clothes survive the toddler years though, so for his 3rd birthday the littlest one has had new clothes for the first time!

Were they born around the same time of year? My 3 were all born in different months and were quite different sizes so needed snowsuit/ thick jackets in tiny sizes for DS3 where we had them in 3-6&6-9 from DS1&2. Likewise with summer clothes- needed 3-6 month sizes shorts and t-shirts because only had winter clothes in that size from the older ones, so there may be clothes that they do need.

Money for the little one sounds good idea at least until she’s old enough to understand the concept of presents and feel left out if she wasn’t given something. Most of DGDs clothes from baby and beyond stage look in good condition. The things that really got trashed with stains or tears have been binned i think.

Yes they were born at more or less the same time of year. But there may well be things like snowsuits that are still too big for the baby when she needs them. If so that will sort out the what to buy issue. I’ve been able to get a few smaller sized things so far but she’s growing fast.
