I have high blood sugar and I need to quit the sugar before I end up diabetic. I'm not overweight but I just love sweet stuff. Anyone done this? Can I just cut down or do I need to cut it out completely?

Ok so I've been off sugar for a week and feel better. My diarrhoea has settled and my stomach gone down

Honeyroar · 08/10/2018 23:01

That's good.

Had an accident with a slice of cake today really annoyed with myself but not going to let one slip up stop me. I made my dh's favourites which I wouldn't even eat normally but I've been poorly and was tired after a long day with dgc.

I'm a little on the extreme side because in order to slay Dave, I have quit alcohol, processed sugar, processed carbs (and a bunch of other stuff that isn't related to sugar, like grains, bread, rice etc) in order to get him off my back

Oh, but those things are related to sugar! They are high carbohydrate foods, and the body deals with those in the same way as it does with sugar.

Does anyone find their mouth really dry on this diet?

InfiniteSheldon · 11/10/2018 21:26

Not noticed a dry mouth no

It can make you a little dehydrated, because you store water with glycogen. As you use up the glycogen you expel the water (which is why you lose a few pounds quite quickly when you go low carb). If your mouth is dry though, you probably need to drink more water.

I've had a piece of cake and feel sick
