I'm considering doing my PGDE next year which would mean I'd need to put the kids in childcare 8-6 pretty much, for 36 weeks a year.

I'm trying to figure out if I can afford it. DD4 will be going to school and DD2 will get his funded 15hrs in the Sept which obviously helps.

What have you found to be cheapest childcare option for school age kids? Breakfast and after school club would be £14 a day, but I'm not sure about childminders - would they charge to hold her place whilst she's at school (like they do for nursery places?). I definitely cant afford to be paying full days childcare for them both Sad

I’m a cm and don’t charge for all day, they aren’t blocking a space because I can still have my three little ones. My price is £16 for after school, £5 for before school. Includes breakfast and an evening meal.

I think you'd struggle to get cheaper than the before / after school club, £14 is a very low price for those hours.

Thanks Georgie that's reassuring.

Ice I did think it was pretty reasonable, although we don't use any childcare at the moment so I'm w little inexperienced with it all
