Renting in the UK

We might be moving back to the UK later this year after ten plus years abroad. We won’t be able to buy for a while so will have to rent. What are the things I need to be aware of about renting in the UK?

Well I’m glad they don’t do that here. Getting a section 21 is stressful.

I can understand evicting due to rent arrears/damage. Our landlord evicting me and my children shortly after my husband left, despite us paying rent on time, having positive inspections and doing everything expected of us was pretty shitty.

the point is that a section 21 is the only way to (eventually) reclaim the property. So it is the one to use in cases of tenancy breach outside the fixed term. Sec 8 is easily defended after five mins advice from Shelter, and the deal/steal/trash brigade know that.

evicting a tenant for the hell of it to get an empty property with no one in paying rent - do tell why anyone would do that.

HA's still do most of the evicting. As I said, they don't die, divorce or get driven out of the business. So why, we ask, would they evict a tenant?
