Tomorrow I am taking my son...

To see Shania Twain in concert Grin
He has autism and was obsessed with her music before he could speak. When he was about 9 I promised him that if she ever toured the UK again I would take him.
He's 21 now , and he is so so so excited! He rarely shows emotion of any kind, unless we are at a musical (one of his obsessions) but I know tomorrow he will be rigid with excitement which is so lovely to see.

I think I deserve a parenting award as she's not my cup of tea at all!

That don’t impress me much!

(Sorry, I couldn’t help it. You deserve some kind of special hat or badge)

Finfintytint · 02/10/2018 00:07

That don't impress me much. Lol.

I am thrilled for you both. He gets to see a star he has always wanted to see and you get to see the his joy. K hope you both have a ball.

Jozen · 02/10/2018 00:14

Apparently she puts on a great show so my friends tell me and one of them isn't that into her either so it may be bearable.
There's a lot of leopard print going on from what I can see too.

owabno · 02/10/2018 00:16

I hope you both have a great time

StillMedusa · 02/10/2018 00:16

Totally outing myself now..but this makes me smile.
This was him at 8 (he had no speech til he was 5) singing 'Man I feel like a Woman'
Her music made him come alive in a way that not much does (he's very gentle and passive) and I wish there was a way I could tell her what she has done for my boy :)

I recently took my 8 year old to see Britney at the O2 and she loved it and I did as well .
You’ll have a fab time.

Nodnol · 02/10/2018 00:40

I hope he has a wonderful time. I hope you get great joy in watching your boy seeing his idol.

NauticalDisaster · 02/10/2018 00:45

This is lovely, OP, thanks for sharing! 💐

LauderSyme · 02/10/2018 00:47

Delilah's suggestion is spot on. Sharing this is exactly what social media is good for!

Hope you both have an amazing night and be sure to make another video of Charlie tomorrow, so that you can look forward to reliving his passion and delight for the next twenty years! Star

feathermucker · 02/10/2018 00:48

That's so lovely

Rebecca36 · 02/10/2018 00:57

It's a really nice, kind thing to do. Someone I know slightly saw her fairly recently in concert and her two young adult sons accompanied her - she was more of a fan but they all had an excellent time.

Shania Twain is well worth seeing on stage, you may find you enjoy the concert and your son certainly will.

SlowlyShrinking · 02/10/2018 00:58

He’s going to love it! Yy you should definitely tweet ST with the video. Have a brilliant time with your ds tomorrow x

StillMedusa · 03/10/2018 02:33

Well I can really recommend seeing her!
Charlie said it was the best day of his life! The show was absolutely fantastic and boy can she sing!
I really hope I never have to take him on the tube at rush hour ever again though ... he has very poor balance and coordination and we damn near took out a coach like dominoes when he couldn't stay upright Grin

Glad it went well. It was a lovely read.

SallyVating · 03/10/2018 04:55

I was there too tonight. She was amazing. So chuffed your boy enjoyed it.
Transport was fucked cos trains from Stratford were disrupted and DLR wasn't running. Jubilee line was ridiculous.
Shania was worth it though 🌹🌻 for you and your lovely Charlie xxx

Aww that’s lovely!! Plus I’m sending a fist bump for your Spike poster!! Suspect you don’t still have it as it was 13 years ago Grin

cantfindname · 03/10/2018 07:06

Even if you're not a fan Shania is a great performer and knows how to work a crowd. The video where she rides her horse onstage (think it was Cesars Palace) makes me cry every single time.

So glad your son had a wonderful time!
