Following on from a thread about board games there seem to be quite a few ‘reason why we can’t play monopoly’. Didn’t want to hijack that thread so tell us your stories of why you can no longer play monopoly!

No one?!

I can no longer play Settlers of Catan since I seem to suck at placing my tokens so by turn 3 everyone else is building stuff and trading but I have a solitary sheep. My main move in that game is 'I'd like to concede'.

Terrible loser, board flipper, bank theft, card thrower, compulsive cheater.

No one will play with me.

I don’t blame them.

I refuse to play with the in laws. Everytime I sit at sil's dining table I get flashbacks to Christmas 2010 and the bruised shins I had for a month from all the kicking under the table. I was not amused when she bought party monopoly for the dc

My husband is ruthless and buys out the board and builds hotels ASAP, stresses me out and we fight

my eleven year old is obsessed and has about five different versions! luckily we don’t argue too much about it. he recently got the cheaters edition for his birthday - you can steal money from the bank, build hotels without paying, move more spaces than the dice rolls etc... BUT if you get caught you have to wear a pair of handcuffs! my son is dying to play this so i can imagine there’ll be some arguing there!! the best monopoly tantrum ever was by my sister when she was about ten when she literally upended the entire board, stamped on it, and then ‘ran away’ to the end of the garden for the best part of an hour 😂😂

I remember being so excited getting monopoly for Christmas when I was about 11. So excited! Until no one would play with me because it went on "too bloody long". I set up the board and had a pretend game on my own. 😣

I was the eldest and my siblings stopped playing with me when I was caught stealing money from the bank and basically being a massive cheat shame really as I love monopoly

I won't play it with my DP since he upended the board one year because I was winning. I won't actually play any board games with him because he is such a bad loser.

My dc will still play it, we are planning to get a different version this year, we have 3 different ones already, as well as Monopoly Go.

My parents wouldn’t play with me when I was younger it always went on too long. I loved it though. My get it for the family game this Christmas

Played recently with my children. The youngest (8yo) was winning for a bit. Then started loosing. Badly. The main image I'll take from that game is his leaning over his cowering brother screaming "I'm ruined! RUINED" with a fistful of Monopoly money. I don't even know where he learned that expression!
