Apologies, this is unspeakably boring but they're very expensive. I know you can get them in the pound shop but they never seem to last. I want the type that give a cosy glow.

I have bought LED ones from home bargains

I've had LEDs from LAMPAOUS on amazon before or from Wilkinsons on the highstreet.

Amazon. For batteries too

You can ask in a local shop if they'll let you buy and try out/return.

Mine are nearly all LED now. Mainly Philips. Amazon has a good price on a 2 pack. I tried some cheaper ones on Amazon which were labelled as brighter lumens but really weren't and the light was too blue/green. I sent them back.

For the cosy glow, I think you may need to get halogen bulbs. They get too hot for me. Also obviously more expensive to run.

Robert Dyas has a good range of Osram brand bulbs.

I like LED Philips ones too and have bought them from John Lewis and from DIY stores.

Aldi, Asda, homebargains!

Wilkinson are usually good & have a fairly large range.

I know you said no to Poundland but they have (or did recently) a range of antique bulbs. They're kind of amber coloured and come in interesting shapes. I have one in the standard lamp in our lounge and it gives a lovely soft glow and has lasted for months.

Robert Dyas. Best shop in the world.

I only buy Phillips LED from screwfix or Amazon. Expensive but last years.
