Pocket money for a 7 year old?

I thought it might be a good idea to start giving DS pocket money from his 7th birthday.
Does anyone else give their Children pocket money around this age?

If yes how much?
I was thinking about £7 a month (his age) does this seem a bit tight?

My wee one is 4 she gets £1 a week for making her bed this goes into her credit union through pre-school her gg also gives her £1 a week as she helps with dishes (makes more mess than help but effort that counts) she enjoys getting her pocket money which she then takes to school for her account. We have memberships for social activities and she gets the odd treat so doesn't need the money to spend it's just for saving!

My 7 year old gets £3 a week . I was buying bits and bobs like magazines for her before . Now she has to use her own money .

My 6 year old gets £2 a week. The past few weeks he has saved it up to buy £3 Lego figures from eBay and minecraft magazine.

It's fun to see him planning and completing his purchases.

He's not allowed to buy sweets
