Maths from scratch

Maths was by far the hardest subject for me at school, and even now as an adult I feel like I have huge gaps in even the most simple areas.
I've decided to stop being scared and embarrassed and do something about it. Has anyone taken any courses (online) which have been useful? There are so many resources available, which is great, but I'm overwhelmed.
I think ideally I'm looking to follow a programme that starts at the absolute basics, which then increases with difficultly as I progress, rather than using a mishmash of resources.

TIA

Maybe you could start with The Maths Factor? My kids found it very helpful.

Thanks. I've just had a look and it seems great for kids.

I think I might be looking for something targeted more at adults with basic maths skills though.

Would something like this be the right level for you?

Can you look into doing functional skills? Not sure if there are online course (bet there are somewhere). I'm a complete maths-phobe but the functional skills courses start with the basics, i found it incredibly helpful....I'll never be a maths genius but can now help DS with homework.

To be honest, I think ideally you should try and find an evening course at your local college, I was in a similar position many years ago - failed maths gcse and used to have a complete fobia of maths. Then I decided enough is enough, took an evening course and scored 100 per cent in my maths GCSE and went on to study accounting. Maths is my strongest subject now, i just had lots of gaps as a child and it had completely put me off.

Thanks for the links, I'll check them out.

Mrsnutellatoast - unfortunately I'm not in the UK, and that kind kind of course isn't provided where I am. It's great to hear your success story though - gives me hope!

Khan academy would be a good place to start. It’s completely free and covers everything from counting to 10 upwards.

There’salso this from the OU

Khan academy is really good!
