Need my bridesmaid gifts .Posted here because on the wedding forum its just other brides buying stuff blindly . I have a feeling we are all going to end up buying the same personalised compact mirrors.
So fat I have a personalised hanger and silky robe. Three bridesmaids in their early 20,s and a MOH in her 40's
If you were a bridesmaid , what did you get that you actually liked please.

I got a beautiful necklace which I love. Sadly It's too short for my fat neck so I need to extend it!

Mine got cashmere throws

NastyCats · 30/09/2018 19:32

I have my bms the necklaces they wore. I had them made by the same lady who made my tiara (this was a long time ago when such things were fashionable and I was very young!). I was really disappointed with them and I know the bms didn't like them.

As a bm I have been given earrings and a bracelet to wear at the wedding which was nice but unnecessary. I don't wear them now. My sil gave me a necklace but I really didn't need or expect it. I would rather they hadn't spent yet more money on me - weddings are do expensive. My dds (11 and 9) were flower girls recently and were not given a gift and neither noticed nor cared.

Personalised hand made memory books of our friendships. Photos going right back to when we first met. Used hobby craft scrap books. Plus nice cotton (cooler than silk ones) personalised dressing gowns for getting ready in the morning.

Am I the only one who really wants to see the steampunk bracelet?

Astella22 · 30/09/2018 19:47

I was asked a few weeks before the wedding what was my favourite picture of myself and my husband was at our wedding, I just thought she was looking for ideas for her own day. The bride then had that picture drawn by an artist in black and white and had it framed I LOVE 💕 it so much. It has pride of place on our book case and I love to glance at it and remember our own wedding day. Best present ever

I've had some gifts that weren't really my kind of thing, such as jewellery that weren't really my thing, candles, and a bucket filled with sweets with my name and bridesmaid painted on it. In all cases I really wish the brides had just saved their time and money.

Best gift I've known was when DP was given a bottle of his favourite aftershave when he was best man. The couple gave perfume to the bridesmaids and aftershave to the groomsmen and had taken the time to find out who wore what which was a really nice touch (if not very expensive)

I got a necklace with a shoe pendant. Totally not my thing and not sure why my sister thought it was a good gift...

This is terrible but I don’t remember what I bought my flower girls...

Sorry i’m No help apart from to say think of something that they’d like rather than something generic. Try not to panic buy.

Enjoy your day. Wine

AlexanderHamilton · 30/09/2018 20:00

I bought mine a necklace & earrings which they also wore on the day.

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 30/09/2018 20:03

I got a necklace which was not really my style but pretty and a lovely thought.

I have my bridesmaids mugs, the Pantone ones, matched to the colours of the dresses (there were 4 different ones).

Arrivederci · 30/09/2018 20:07

I agree with pp, something more personalised than generic. I've been bought strange jewellery in the past that is in my dressing table, unworn.
I had my two new sister in laws as bridesmaids and didn't have a huge budget (but also didn't require them to spend anything on accommodation, etc.). I got them a little gift bag with hotel chocolat chocs, a candle and a fancy alcohol miniature. I also wrote something in a thank you card. I think it went down quite well, though they did swap alcohol as one didn't like gin 😬
The best man got something similar. I think overall we spent about £25 each.

For my bridesmaids I got them a little keepsake saying bridesmaid and the date for around £5 then got them individual gifts I knew they would like.
I’m hopeful that was better than the various ornaments, mirrors and bags I have that I’ve not known what to do with

AnneLovesGilbert · 30/09/2018 20:22

What a brilliant idea ThisIsNotARealAvo! Love a mug.

tryingtotakeitonthechin · 30/09/2018 20:24

Got mine pandora charms with the wedding date engraved on. Just silver hearts.
They both wear pandora.
Flower girls got little necklaces with “flower girl” pendants on, similar to the photo. They were only preschool age and the gifts weren’t expensive at all, but wanted to get them a little token gift to look back on.

We got beautiful navy pashminas that matched our dresses. I loved mine, still wear it today and think fondly of that day and my lovely friend Smile

Doidontimmm · 30/09/2018 20:28

I got earrings to wear on the day (little crystal ones) which I wear most days 14 years on but most treasured was the lovely handwritten card which makes me cry every time I read 😊

WhyisitalwaysMonday · 30/09/2018 20:43

I was recently a bridesmaid for a close friend - my gift was a miniature bottle of Prosecco (I don’t drink), a Prosecco glass with my name written on it by hand (with a silver sharpie she’d borrowed from me the week before Hmm), a bobble, some plasters and some paracetamol (I assume for the morning after).

The lot must have cost her around £5. I would have much preferred a 29p card thanking me for all the time, effort and money I’d put into the wedding after spending a year ferrying her from venue to venue, answering calls all hours of the night with wedding dramas and running round like a bloody lap dog whilst her H2B sat on his arse.

Not bitter I promise Grin

TomHardyswife · 30/09/2018 20:54

We all got personalised large make up bags containing a gorgeous personalised photo frame, and a lovely bracelet and set of earrings which we all wore on the day.

It was a destination wedding and we also got little souvenirs of the country we had the wedding, plus a hand held fan which was a lifesaver on the day as it was scorching!

Downtome · 30/09/2018 22:32

When you say " lovely bracelet and earrings" what sort of thing are we talking about....l
