I’m struggling a little with feeling alone at the moment. I am newly divorced, no children, and my life is getting a little dull. I’m not ready quite yet to date and would love to find a new hobby that gets me out and about.

What do you all do? I already to a bit of sport and music. I want a team/group type thing.

Any suggestions/inspirations welcome.

you could join a book club

or a coffee club

whereabouts are you based? i may be able to recommend a few groups near you

I joined a choir, singing in a group makes you feel great and it is very social

The gym. I’ve met 3 or 4 of my best friends through shared gym classes. We now meet up a lot outside of the gym, days out, coffees, etc. We all still go to the gym as well. It’s a very nice gym with a bar/lounge area where you can have lunch, etc so I think that helps with the social side of things.

Have you tried meetup.com?

CallMeHippo · 30/09/2018 17:53

Thank you. I’m in the south west and Meetup does not yield very much other than ‘beer and banter’ type things. I already sing in a choir and really like it. I don’t sew but a book club might me a nice idea.

This is going to be a bit Marmite, but are you at all political? I've made loads of friends by getting involved with the local branch of my chosen political party. Admittedly I have been lucky in that our local party is full of lovely people, and I know that the balance of lovely versus Machiavellian is not always as good as this, but it could be worth a go if you have Strong Views on stuff.

I have a horse, kept on livery-most of my friends are from horses-its a very sociable albeit blinking expensive passion to have. Not for the feint hearted though so probably not the complete lifestyle change you are after!

One of my single friends is in a walking club-they go all over. If you like the outdoors it might work? Quite time consuming though as they are often out most of the day.

How about setting up your own meetup group then? There may be other women nearby thinking exactly the same as you. Smile
