Maternity leave holiday entitlement help please

Rosiebelle · 30/09/2018 12:11

I'm trying to work out my holiday entitlement for when I go back to work in October.

I get 25 days holiday and bank holidays (holiday runs Jan - Dec).

My maternity leave was from 12th March - 10th October.

I took 6 days A/L before maternity leave started.

When I go back to work in October I'm dropping down from a 40hr week to a 27hr week and that's where I'm getting confused as to holiday entitlement.

Can anyone please help SmileFlowers

I would assume, you take the 25 days and divide by 12 months, then times by 10 to know how many days you have accrued this year up to Oct. Minus the 6 days already taken and you'll get the remainder.

When you start your part time work the annual leave total will be different, so you'll only receive a proportion of the 25 days (and? A proportion of the bank holidays)

Surely the easiest way is to ask your employer though

I just phoned my HR department and they let me know. Maybe do this rather than trying to work it out yourself?

It will depend on when your holiday year runs from. Just call and ask. They will be happy to advise I'm sure

When I went back last time it was given as an part time percentage of full time allowance.

So say I had 120 hours of full time (3×40h weeks) I then had 75 hours pt (3x25h weeks)

When you tell them you intend to come back and arrange the return date they should let you know of your remaining entitlement and normally make you take it all before you return.
