Roomba or Dyson Cordless?

I'm moving house and want my vacuum cleaning to be easier😊. It will have mainly wooden flooring with rugs. There are also stairs.

Please can I have your opinions!

Thank you!

Roombas are the daleks of vacuums. They don't do stairs.

I have the Dyson v10. It's amazeballs. Love it. So easy and convenient and I'm constantly amazed and disgusted by the amount of crap it sucks out my carpets.

Get the best Dyson cordless you can afford.

Roomba / robot Hoover's are great if you have a lot of open space and clear floors, but they don't do corners, under chairs, behind doors etc.

I'd go for the Dyson handheld and then supplement with the robot Hoover's at a later date (although be prepared to clean before setting the hoover off, they love chewing stray socks!)

Roomba! Mine has changed my life for the better (sounds dramatic but true!) I have fibro and a couple of other chronic conditions and we live in a busy working farm complete with 2 hurricanes DCs and 3 cats. I bought one of the more basic ones (no apps for phone etc) and it's brilliant. Apart from one of the cats having figured out how to turn it on himself and going for a ride when he feels like it

I have hard floors and tend to sometimes do corners etc with a feather duster while the roomba is going around but I have a little plug in hand held for the stairs (like a powerful dustbuster). Unless your stairs are all wood and you can do them with a brush/cloth then you need something either instead of or in addition to the roomba

catsofa · 30/09/2018 10:37

I have both. If i could only have one it'd have to be the Dyson because there's so much the Roomba can't do - stairs, under sofa cushions, ceiling cobwebs, 3 inch gaps round table legs etc. But I use both nearly every day and love them both.

I’d love a roomba but worry about the number of socks the DC leave around, and yes most of our hoovering has been above head height.

I would go for the cordless one.

Dyson 10. Not the 8, as it only has 20 minutes charge. The 10/Absolute has 40.

smallchair · 30/09/2018 11:10

If you buy a xiaomi robot hoover you can afford one and a Dyson cordless and still have change vs the price of a roomba. it's a great robot hoover - couldn't live without one now. This is my one m.gearbest.com/robot-vacuum/pp_440546.html?wid=1349303

So I bought the Dyson V10. I just moved house and the whole mess here is getting on my nerves. Was thinking of getting a Roomba in sales to assist. Two questions.... any recommendations on model and secondly do they all have a rubber buffer in case they knock into something fragile?

Posted too soon. A reviewer on Amazon said her '671' was always crashing into things.
