Spider Nightmare !

OMG 😮 Just retired to bed. Turned bedside light off as partner was sleeping already. I Settled down all snoozly and was reading my iPad when out of the corner of my eye I saw this humongous spider striding right towards my face. Illuminated by the light of my device it looked truly menacing and sinister. Well I tell you, I leapt up so quickly, partner woke up wondering what all the commotion was.

Had to strip bed, shake everything out. Spider no where to be seen.

The thought of a spider crawling across my skin makes my heart beat so fast. So much so I’ve put socks on, long pj bottoms and a long sleeve pj top. If I had a balaclava I’d wear that too!

Now I’m seeing movement out of the corner of my eye all the time. I’m really on high alert and I don’t think I will get much sleep tonight ... any advice? Hasten to say partners already kicking the zzzzs out again.

Was it walking across your iPad or over the bedclothes?

Surely your bed stripping has frightened the little bastard away?

TheRealHousewife · 29/09/2018 23:36

The big fucker must have climbed up the back of the mattress near the bed head and was striding across the mattress next to my face. Proper freaked me out. Just prior to to me leaping out of bed, it’s front paws had reached my pillow! The twat. (I rarely swear)

Noooooooooooooooooo!!

Although paws makes it sound a bit cuter.

Are you absolutely sure you weren't imagining things? I've leapt out of bed before because of a spider next to me only to realise that I had briefly nodded off.

It did seem very real to me when it happened. Or on the plus side, if it was real and as big as you thought you would've found it by now so perhaps it's a little one.

Haven't had any this year yet but everytime I post on these threads one appears... 👀

TheRealHousewife · 29/09/2018 23:43

Now I’m itching ....

EnidButton · 29/09/2018 23:45

I just made the bed and turned the mattress so I'm reasonably confident...

Maybe I'll check behind the curtains.

They hate noise. Have a good vacuum under everything tomorrow. Scare any lurkers off.

tigercub50 · 29/09/2018 23:45

Sod that!! I’d be emptying the room to find it!

EnidButton · 29/09/2018 23:46

Or better still, get your DH to vacuum. The absolute cheek of him managing to nod off.

tigercub50 · 29/09/2018 23:46

Why are you itching OP?

TheRealHousewife · 29/09/2018 23:47

EnidButton no I wasn’t dreaming it was real, it was big and I’m sure it was going to crawl over me. The very thought of it is making me shudder. I hope I’ve not jinxed you and the spiders enroute to yours .... talking of which I havnt seen my spider guest for about 40 minutes now... Grin

TheRealHousewife · 29/09/2018 23:48

The thought of the spider being on me Tigercub50 .

EnidButton · 29/09/2018 23:49

Aargh!

I put the heating on for the first time today too which seems to get them thinking it's Club Tropicana time.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 29/09/2018 23:54

Hmm, I was once sitting on the sofa mumsnetting, when I felt a gentle, not unpleasant, tickling, crawling motion on my cheek. I brushed my cheek with my hand and dislodged an absolutely ginormous spider.

Fuck knows where it came from. I am absolutely having a minor panic attack just remembering.

Check and double check your room OP. Check it's not hiding on top of your head like my fucker probably was.

EnidButton · 29/09/2018 23:59

Ffs I'm getting DH to check everywhere when he comes up.

I reckon your DH has swallowed it TheReal Shock

Nightwatch999 · 30/09/2018 00:03

Just get everyone out the house and burn the fu@ker to the ground!
Grin

TheRealHousewife · 30/09/2018 00:07

Oh my goodness TinklyLittleLaugh. I feel very anxious on your behalf. That’s scary! The bed is getting changed tomorrow and a deep clean. I need to start closing the windows so they can’t come in Grin

Mind you I think I read on MN that; There are spiders that live outside and there are house spiders. Neither can live in others domain. The house spiders are indows all year round but we generally see them more this time of year as they are looking for a mate.

TheRealHousewife · 30/09/2018 00:08

Now you mention it Enidbutto, he did cough a few minutes ago Grin

TheRealHousewife · 30/09/2018 00:10

It was a good job a didn’t have any matches Nightwatch999 or might just have burnt my house to the ground!

EnidButton · 30/09/2018 00:31

TheReal Yes, they're male spiders out on the pull, looking for a mate. ("you're not mating with me sunshine")

They can stay in the walls or the garage but as soon as they put a toe on my floors they're out on their ears. That's the deal.
