When did jelly tots change their shape?

DP doesn't believe me when I assert that jelly tots used to be flattish and round, not dome shaped.

My school had a vending machine stocked with them in the mid nineties and I used to compile lists of the different colours in each pack and graph them for fun. I was very much a jelly tot girl...

Am I right? Were they flattish discs before they were dome shaped?

Hmm now you mention it

PotteringAlong · 29/09/2018 19:03

They were!

CherryBlossom23 · 29/09/2018 19:03

Yes, they definitely were! I used to arrange mine by colour before eating them (Blush) and definitely remember them being flattish.

I always remember them being done shaped as I used to get two yellows and a red and squash one yellow flat for the bottom, squash the red flat for middle and another yellow on top and pretend it was a burger Grin

I remember flattish and round. Like you’ve squezed a ball between thumb and finger and squashed it.

MirandaWest · 29/09/2018 20:17

I thought they still were flattish discs....

Sunnysidegold · 29/09/2018 21:49

TillyVonMilly · 29/09/2018 22:27

Teakind · 29/09/2018 22:30

Ah you’ve made me want them but I remember them as flat disks!

Livedandlearned2 · 29/09/2018 22:31

Green and purple are the best ones.

JamAtkins · 29/09/2018 22:34

Yes they were. I kindly informed everyone within a 20 seat radius of me of this fact when I had some on a plane this summer.

Candymay · 29/09/2018 23:27

Yes they’ve changed. I just bought them today and noticed straight away. As with all sweets, I feel they were better in the olden day’s!

Hi there! You're totally correct. They were round & flat shaped. I just recently purchased a bag for my older self, as mine are all adults now. I was actually very shocked to see they'd changed shape. I was hoping it was an accidental packaging error. But, ohhhh Nooooooooooooooooo. It looks like it's for keeps. Why is this. Does anyone else know why this is? In this bag, there was a green round, flat one. I wish now that I'd kept a hold of it. Has anyone else found a round, flat one in their packets? Is this shape not a dew drop? Why couldn't they have a packaging of their own, instead of stealing the poor jelly tots bag?? Come on Mr. R. Sort this one out, please.
