Right bad eye sight - not fuzzy but can’t see detail - and my fire alarm is beeping. Now I managed to pull off the cover after much tugging and now I can work out the battery compartment or more precisely how to open it. Can someone please explain? Picture attached.

Can you take a photo of the inside of the lid?

mothertominibeasts · 29/09/2018 18:13

Mine looks like this. It has two battery pads, one for the alarm and one for the light. Yours isn't hard wired into the light is it?

The white battery compartment comes off, you just need to be firm with it.

Have you a neighbour/friend to call on, to help you?

PassportMessUp · 29/09/2018 19:44

Right I’ve managed to pull it off the ceiling - amazing strength when annoyed. The battery compartment is on the back so I looking wrong place Blush I don’t I should have opened the bit I did earlier but the decorator has painted around the outside according to ds1 age 8. Which is probably why I pulled off the wrong bit. Trying to break through paint with 8. Thanks for everyone’s help.

Right thanks to ds1 - now put back together with new battery. I’ll push it back on the ceiling and hope it doesn’t drop when we are sleeping. Although as ds1 helpfully pointed out it won’t wake me I’m deaf. Thanks
