I an ill and need inspiration.

I need something child-friendly.

DSD is here and she is vegetarian but happy to cook for herself. I'd like to cook for her thought.

Just need something comforting and nourishing.

What is everybody having?

I’m sat eating vegetable curry, it’s delicious.

I just fry onion in garlic and ginger paste until soft, then add chopped up seeet potato, peppers and cauliflower. Then add a few dollops of pataks korma paste + 1 tin of coconut milk and simmer until the potato is soft.

We’re having roast gammon and cauli/broccoli/kale in a cheese sauce.

Leftovers will be going in a pie with chicken and mushroom tomorrow night. It’s a comfort food weekend!

GirlFliesHome · 29/09/2018 13:12

Oh I could do a roast chicken with loads and loads of veg for the Veggies. Plus stuffing in a separate pan so no chicken juice on it.

Hmmmm.

It's easy at least and I am just hobbling from couch to kitchen. (I have an infection)

Chicken fajitas in our house tonight. Easy to make veggie though, just more veg instead of the chicken.
DS is 15mo and looooooves them.

VioletCharlotte · 29/09/2018 13:28

Horrace I like the sound of your veggie curry recipe. May give that a go!

GirlFliesHome · 29/09/2018 13:28

One pot spaghetti and meatballs...literally takes 20 minutes and minimal effort which is what I need today.

GirlFliesHome · 29/09/2018 13:29

I was thinking fajitas earlier... and mixing up rice with kidney beans as the stuffing. Nourishing and tasty.

We’re doing chicken, bacon and mushroom pasta with a side salad. Not super veggie friendly I’m afraid Grin

Newkitchenideas1 · 29/09/2018 13:31

GirlFliesHome · 29/09/2018 13:33

I home alone tonight, having an chicken thing from M&S and skinny fries.

papayya · 29/09/2018 13:35

Sausage casserole in the slow cooker 👍

SippingSipsmith · 29/09/2018 13:39

Ottolenghi vegetable paella - I'll probably put chorizo in there too as we are not veggie. Got a olive bread ciabatta to go with it which is actually the only part of the meal my DC are likely to eat

Wowthisisreal · 29/09/2018 13:43

Cajun Chicken Pasta Bake 😊

adoggymama · 29/09/2018 13:49

Sorry to hear you're not feeling great OP!ThanksBrew maybe a nice vegetarian bolognese would go down well with everyone? You can make it super simple and use a jar sauce with some quorn or you could make the sauce yourself :)

wallyfeatures · 29/09/2018 13:55

Bit of feast here at Chez Wally. We have friends coming over and have promised a curry night. I am maing chicken dansak, Red lentil daal, sag aloo, onion bhaji, poppadoms with homemade tomato chutney, mango chutney, raita, naan breads and rice. With treacle tart and an Indian rice pudding with coconut and pistachio to follow. I may have over-catered Blush

AlphaJuno · 29/09/2018 15:47

I'm cooking veggie chilli with Quorn mince in the slow cooker. Just for me and dp today so medium spicy but can be made mild for kids.

averageisgood · 29/09/2018 15:55

Good old beef stew. No particular recipe just chucked in whatever veg I had and stuck it in the oven

happymummy12345 · 29/09/2018 16:00

Dh and I are having burgers in buns with cheddar cheese, red and white onion (raw for me, cooked for him) and proper Irish butter, and chips later when ds is in bed. One of my fave meals, especially when dh makes it.
Can't wait. He was off today so he had a well deserved lie in this morning, and we've had a lovely family afternoon. Looking forward to a lovely evening too.

happypotamus · 29/09/2018 16:09

We are having toad in the hole with vegetarian sausages, mash and peas. Not too much effort, vegetarian and child-friendly (my kids love it anyway)
