Urrrgh what is this? Tiny white things on wooden chopping board?

I sometimes eat food off a wooden chopping board, tried to do this earlier and saw a tiny white thing about 1mm (if that) and flicked it off.

Then I saw another and just abandoned my food completely, it had put me off.

What on earth are they??

Baby maggots?

Wooden chopping boards are actually notorious for harboring bacteria. Fine for using to serve things, but if you are chopping and creating small dents then it's a perfect place for little nasties to live in. I'm not precious at all about cleaning/hygiene but I do avoid this. I use mine as serving platters only

Oh yuck, everything is getting bleached/disinfected today. I'll stick to china from now on
