We haven’t had a proper holiday yet this year so we’ve booked to go to Turkey for the week. A little apprehensive about what the weather will be like but hopefully it will be nice Smile what is everyone else up to?

We’re in chickenpox hell atm (2 out of 3 have it so expecting ghe 3rd to get it too). Half term is still 2 weeks away. I’m very glad we hadn’t booked anywhere. Hoping for the scratching to subside and to do a few fresh air days!

4 more weeks for us.

We are off on holiday - week in Orlando to visit the 6 main parks , with teen DD.

Not going away, working but have a few days off. Traditionally I buy a pumpkin and carve it with dc. If the weathers good we will go for a walk and kick some leaves, followed by lunch and hot chocolate in a cafe. Will probably meet up with a friend with her dc and go to the cinema one day too.

BitchQueen90 · 29/09/2018 11:11

The weather should still be good in Turkey at that time, enjoy!

Our half term doesn't start until the 26th. I'll be working Monday to Thursday so DS will be with his dad and other childcare. We'll be going to some Halloween and bonfire celebrations and maybe out for lunch one day.

WhatsInAnotherNameChange · 29/09/2018 11:24

I'm going here.

I've booked and paid for it and everything. Confused

Impulsivity will be the death of me.

Ironfloor269 · 29/09/2018 11:47

Going to see a drama in the woods (immersive theatre), carve a pumpkin, swimming at the leisure centre.

lucysmam · 29/09/2018 12:17

We're going to visit a cactus greenhouse locally (not the best season according to the man who owns it, but he's very enthusiastic so I thought it'd be interesting & it's free apart from bus fares).

Bath bomb making workshop the weekend before Halloween.

And, probably, Yorkshire Wildlife Park as we have annual passes so it only costs bus fare and usually an ice cream for the girls :)

The Algarve. 4 of us for 700 quid. Flights 4 star hotel and taxi transfer. We go every year and this will be the last for teenage kids as uni doesn't have the October week as we call it. Weather us beautiful...cannot wait

Ironfloor269 · 29/09/2018 12:39

However, October half term here us from 20-26 October so I wonder whether the pumpkin carved that early will last till Halloween...

We are going to oop North for a family reunion. (DH's side). He has not seen his cousins for some45 years! We rejected the idea of being farmed out to stay in family spare rooms and have booked a lovely cottage.

CantankerousCamel · 29/09/2018 12:45

Various country houses wirh the kids

Various friends for Halloween get togethers.

Lots of chilling out

I wouldn’t choose to go away this holiday. Too knackered after start of term

Stupomax · 29/09/2018 13:11

We don't get half term [cries]

BrickByBrick · 29/09/2018 15:12

Weekend away. I have the week booked off work as well.

Where I work though (different authority) has half term the week before and for various reasons I'm only in 2 days.

Ironfloor269 · 29/09/2018 16:22

@stupomax, where are you?

IggyAce · 29/09/2018 16:44

Booked the Beamish Halloween night event, it was fun last time we went a few years ago.
Also have 2 nights in Northumberland to look forward too. I will also visit a couple of NT places.

Stupomax · 29/09/2018 20:39

stupomax, where are you?

I'm in New England - we go from Sept 4th to Nov 20th without a break other than Columbus Day and Veteran's Day. It's a long haul.

Mitsouko67 · 30/09/2018 14:41

I hope to take that week off work. Will meet friends for coffee. Will probably run a group playdate for ten year old cinema or outing somewhere.just some time off work and catch up time with self/kids/friends. Looking forward to it. We might go away for a few days. Not a Halloween fan at all but the kids will go trick or treating.

Stupomax we were up in NH this summer and they went back to school Aug 15th!! When I asked they said they get so many snow days it works out in the end, but that's still a long old way from mid August to Thanksgiving unless the snow starts very early.

We're down in Cornwall. Oct and May half terms are the best times of year to go down there and in October the sea is still relatively warm.

Poor sods - that really is a long haul!

MrsZB · 30/09/2018 15:42

We don’t have half term either (Canada).

We do have a 4 day weekend for Thanksgiving so we are going away for 2 nights.
