Just that really. I’ve now got a really deep scratch on the rear passenger door (and across the frame and onto the panel behind the door). I think the handle possibly bore the brunt of the damage (so the door isn’t dented). It’s going to cost a fortune to sort out, isn’t it? Sad

That might be an insurance job! How did you manage to do that?

zsazsajuju · 28/09/2018 21:15

I got similar fixed for 400. but I think the guy gave me a deal as he felt sorry for me.

OublietteBravo · 28/09/2018 21:16

I caught it on the corner of a flatbed truck while parking. I just didn’t expect there to be anything say that height so far out from the kerb IYSWIM.

Actually, having looked a bit more closely, the scratch on the door panel isn’t all that deep. I guess I need to have a proper look once it is daylight though. I’m so bloody annoyed with myself...

Have you damaged the flatbed truck?

welshmist · 28/09/2018 21:27

use some T cut to polish out what you can.

OublietteBravo · 28/09/2018 21:37

No. No damage to the truck. I literally just caught the underside of the back corner of it (does that make sense)?

oubliette nothing more annoying to damage to your car. I got a stone chip driving new car home from picking it up at garage. I feel your pain

Oh dear that is a good scratch. I dented and scratched all the side of my car on a van whilst parking too. Mines a banger though so I've just left it and I've noticed that people don't tend to park near me which is a good advantage. Grin

MaryBoBary · 05/11/2018 18:01

OP what happened with your car? Did you use t cut or go to garage and what did it cost. My OH has just done the same thing!

Oblomov18 · 05/11/2018 18:06

My ds caused similar damage to a teachers car, on his bike. Don't ask!! Because Dh knows loads of people in the car industry we got it repaired very cheaply for only a few hundred.

When in actual fact it would have cost a lot, and there is a lot of work involved to correct: the banging out the dents, the scratches and the paint work.

Could you post amongst your Facebook friends to ask for such a recommendation?

A slate fell off a roof onto the roof of my new car in the last spell of high winds we had. I have some small dents (3-4 of 3 to 5 mm each) and a few smallish paint chips. I managed to match the paint colour at my local Citroen service centre and watched a load of YouTube videos and I'm going to touch up the paint and t-cut it myself. The dents will have to stay unfortunately. I do feel your pain, it's such a sickener. If it's not too deep, you may be able to sort it yourself. Here's hoping Flowers

Keeoe · 05/11/2018 18:51

Oh shit, I've just switched to app and seen the picture. That's a scratch alright 😮

wrenika · 05/11/2018 18:54

There are plenty DIY scratch repairs - matched to your car by type and paint colour. I guess it depends how precious you want to be - whether you want it to be completely repaired or just improved. I had a scratch on my car's front wheel arch which came from somebody else who never owned up. I used clear nail varnish to seal it to prevent corrosion starting and honestly you don't see the scratch anymore. I was going to repair it properly with one of the DIY kits and the nail varnish seal was just to protect it form wintery wet weather in the mean time but since it's not visible anymore I never bothered going back to fix it properly.
