Can anyone help find my 16 year old DD a fancy dress?

I am hopeless at this!

DD is going to a fundraising ball this Christmas (it's a cause very very important to her).

She has scars on her chest and back which she would like to hide. She is a size 8 and 5'2. I'm willing to spend up to £150.

Everything we have seen has been quite matronly, or has full sleeves and no back, or is just too grown up looking on her (she has a baby face god love her).

HELP!

She would also prefer her arms to be covered.

Could you look at a dress and a bolero?

Try Needle & Thread on ASOS:

It's also possible to clean up on EBay with this brand. Beautiful quality.

My dd is also 16 and she struggled to find a prom dress that suited her shape without looking too grown up.

She had one made by a local seamstress. It cost £140. She really enjoyed the process of fittings, designing it etc and she's really not normally into dressy things.

Have you looked at ChiChi London? I’ve had a couple of things from there and they’ve been lovely.

Without knowing her colouring and how little of her chest and back she’s comfortable exposing it’s difficult to suggest a dress but maybe something like this?

Hope you find something lovely for her Smile.

I read your headline & thought you wanted a fancy dress costume.

thaegumathteth · 28/09/2018 19:41

Have you looked at Lindy Bop?

NerrSnerr · 28/09/2018 19:53

I'm the same as going and was going to suggest a silly dressing out outfit.

kingsley that is beautiful. She really likes it so we'll order it and see, thank you.

Because she's so small and has a baby face a lot of gowns really drown her too.

I know, I only realised after I typed it that it could come off as a Halloween costume thread! Doh.

Glad she likes it, I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's as nice in real life Smile

You can definitely find something from here

Is the chest/back on this one too low?

The model wearing the dress kingsley linked to is 5ft 10 so be prepared for it to be a tad long - nothing that can’t be fixed though. Hope it suits.

She keeps going back to that Coast one so I think we'll go and try it on in a store too. It's hard to tell especially with the height issues!

Thank you to everyone btw Flowers

Try tk Maxx

whereiscaroline · 28/09/2018 21:47

@DoneWithDressShopping they do the coast one in petite too so you might find it's ok height wise. Hope she finds something fab.
