Hen do

Newbabies15 · 28/09/2018 09:09

My mates are going on a hen do. Effectively a holiday £550. I want to but but my dts will be 14 months by then and we've just bought a new house. Because we've had 2 babies my hours in work have been reduced so our income is less.
I feel guilty leaving my husband with the twins for 3 nights (and I think I would miss them after the first night) and the cost is a lot. They're going for 4/5 stars.
I think my problem is I want to to but to something that's shorter - maybe 1/2 nights max and cheaper like 250 max. My mates have also said they're going to put money aside to get little gifts for the bridesmaid. It's not just committing to the holiday - I'd have to chip in like that too. They also like to do kitties when out and like to order the most expensive drink (when sometimes I just want a beer).
My problem is I want to go - it would be fun but you know when something is too much?

What does your DH think?

Sadly I think when you are a parent there are times you don't get to do the fun things anymore. Think what that money could buy for your family.

That is far, far, far too much to spunk on a hen do. Ridiculous. And buy her little gifts as well? You'll be down over £1000 for a jolly. I would not do that much less leave my young twins for a silly hen do. These things have got ridiculous.
