I have lost count of the hours spent watching PP and R&J. Ds2 loved them both. RIP John.....

What a talent! Many happy hours watching Postman Pat. It was one programme I could tolerate. Such lovely characters, settings and stories. I was sad when I read this.

Lovely to see tributes to him on both the National news. Apparently he got the PP idea from driving a mobile library!

Have reminded my mother of the time she bought ds2 a R&J video with about 20 episodes on it..... After a month I could parrot every word!!

So true WowOoo - a programme we could tolerate. No squeaky voices, no unnecessary 'learning', no annoying flashes and bangs.
Postman Pat was one of a kind, and we loved it.
(I think Jess the cat is still somewhere in the attic!)

Sad I grew up to Postman Pat on TV! And Rosie and Jim!

TheSecretiveOne · 27/09/2018 20:21

Awwww I loved Rosie and Jim when I was a child. It was set in Birmingham too which I found thrilling as that’s where I’m from. RIP John

Now I have the Rosie and Jim theme tune going round my head!!
Such a lovely, gentle series, RIP John

RIP Mr Cunliffe and thank you for the lovely memories of reading your books to my children. One day soon it will be grandchildren! They will stand the test of time that's for sure.

Ah still remember my brother loving this then my own boys...

And I sang a made up song about my boys to the tune of Rosie and Jim Sad

Elflocks · 28/09/2018 22:10

Flowers RIP

I have spent many hours watching Rosie and Jim.

I thought the obituary was lovely;

The notice of his death was published in the Ilkley Gazette and read: "John Cunliffe left his Ilkley home in a deluge of rain on 20 September, never to return.

"Even the skies wept for John, the gifted creator of Postman Pat, Rosie and Jim, and author of many earlier published collections of poetry and picture story books for children.
