An absolutely thrilling Q about Tesco vouchers.

Google hasn’t helped me.

When you pay for a meal with club card vouchers, does the restaurant get the full amount back from Tesco? Or is it a loss leader where they hope you spend more than the amount of vouchers you have and buy lots of drinks?

It’s a really boring and not very important query, granted. But we’ve got £80 to spend in Ask tomorrow and will probably only drink water so I’m wondering if the restaurant are going to sneer at us because we’re costing them money. I don’t really care but the question’s in my head now and I can’t find the answer.

I’ve worked in a place that sold groupon voucher deals and they made a fortune from people who bought the vouchers and never used them, but when people did we were giving the goods away for cost, so I’m wondering if this is like that, the deal itself costs the company but they recoup it in no shows and extras.

Someone must work in a restaurant that does the Tesco thing and can tell me. Please and thank you.

Bumping because I'd like to know the answer too. I've been wondering the same thing about Wuntu deals.

I’ll bump this again (thatnks Afish) to see if the evening contingent are any the wiser.

Joining thread as I'd like to know too. Not that I give much of a stuff about staff sneering.

I'm not sure of the answer but I am very sure that you won't be sneered at. The people serving you and waiting on your table? It won't make a jot of difference to them how you're paying (maybe just leave them a nice tip).

Got no idea but never been treated any differently if that helps.
