Work worries: What are you thoughts?

Hi this is my first time on Mumsnet. What a great forum.
I wanted you share something which has upset me this week at work and wanted to gather opinions to aid perspective taking and calm my thoughts.
Last week in a mad rush from court I left my laptop plugged in, switched on and placed on top of a plastic folder with paperwork in. When I arrived at work the following day I was horrified to hear from security that they had turned off for me nd it was very hot. I apologised and obviously assured them it would Never happen again.
This week I received an email from my line manager. They had reported me to my line manager for fire risk and security breach. I was so shakey reading the email. My laptop was closed and has a bit locker code, it is locked in a coded room in her majesty court.
My thoughts are that it is a bit much to report to line manager, I am aware of the fire risk now and would never do again. What are your thoughts

Yeah that would have upset me too to get that email but I think it was a bit much of them to report it officially. It was just a one-off, seems a bit overly 'keen' of them to me. I doesn't sound like much of either a fire or a security risk.

What has your manager said in the email? are they just letting you know it was reported or is there anything further?

Whatever the outcome it happened so just own it, yes that happened, very sorry, won't happen again, lesson learned etc.

Pretty sure it will all blow over.

Thank you so very much for your reply. It is always a concern when incidents are escalated to management. I did apologise and obviously, it will never happen again. My thoughts are calmer now. My manager appears to have responded more as a necessity rather than of real concern.
I am more cautious around the court security staff, I do not want to give them any other reason to make further reports.
Thank you again
