This has been playing on my mind all night and now all morning.

I've not had a response to my email, have they released a statement yet?

Not as far as I know.

Lauren0rder · 27/09/2018 08:59

About what?

QuaterMiss · 27/09/2018 09:05

I’m still waiting.

(Waitrose don’t deliver to my area ...)

DaisyDreaming · 27/09/2018 09:11

Are they boycotting or are people boycotting them?

Roystonv · 27/09/2018 09:15

Chat in feminism is watching this too but please make as many as possible aware

Clockwork95 · 27/09/2018 09:17

Who is boycotting and why?

MissEliza · 27/09/2018 09:17

Why are you boycotting Ocado?

WomenMakePurchasingDecisions · 27/09/2018 09:20

Two days later, and nothing. They’re hoping we forget. Let’s not forget.

WomenMakePurchasingDecisions · 27/09/2018 09:21

MissEliza they think defining woman as ‘adult human female’ doesn’t align with their values or some such nonsense.

Babdoc · 27/09/2018 09:22

Women are boycotting Ocado for their stance on silencing women, praising the censorship of the billboard stating that the dictionary definition of woman is adult human female.
Ocado are trying to virtue signal that they have swallowed the aggressive trans activist line that any man with an intact penis is a woman just because he says so, and should be allowed into women’s prisons/toilets etc even if he’s a violent rapist, like “Karen” White.
Thousands of Ocado customers are cancelling their orders in protest. The share price fell yesterday in response.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3376466-ocado-boycott-after-support-of-primesight-action

In a nutshell

  • Billboard goes up saying woman are adult human females
  • Men's Rights Activists complains that women are "appropriating" the word woman and demand it is removed
  • Billboard company says "oh yes you are right we agree" and remove it
  • Ocado see this and say "oh yes we agree too"
Bombardier25966 · 27/09/2018 09:34

Sorry to disappoint but the share price fell in line with the market, and today is rising again.

Go ahead with your pointless boycott but don't think it's going to make a jot of difference to the shareholders.

Elementtree · 27/09/2018 09:37

I think if they consult their market research, they might find that the people formerly known as adult human females are the ones doing the majority of the shopping.

PurdysChocolate · 27/09/2018 09:42

If they don't release a statement today I think I will assume the worst and cancel my smartcard. Shame because I really liked Ocado.

PurdysChocolate · 27/09/2018 09:46

*Smartpass. Wow the autocorrect is strong on this tablet. I won't tell you how many tries it took to get it to say "Ocado!"

PenguindreamsofDraco · 27/09/2018 10:16

When the billboard was removed (with apologies), Ocado said in a public albeit now removed tweet that now they could continue to work with the billboard people because the removal meant the billboard people shared their (Ocado's) values.

Ocado have not as yet confirmed what it is about a dictionary definition of a woman which is inconsistent with their values.

StealthNinjaMum · 28/09/2018 09:50

Perhaps the shareholders would like to read these reviews. Dozens of customers - some with over 10 years custom - have left.

uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.ocado.com

I don't think any boycott is pointless, it's personal choice. I have written to Ocado - and been ignored - and until I am acknowledged and apologised to I will shop elsewhere.

FelisMargarita · 29/09/2018 12:02

I wanted to look into this as a customer of Ocado and a feminist. There's an article about it on the Daily Mail. Now, I have very little faith in the Daily Mail to provide an accurate description of much but it did provide a picture of the billboard with the website address on for the group behind the billboard, which is www.standingforwomen.com/

The campaigners' aim seems to be to advocate for a definition of adult human female as a construct of sex rather than gender. I.e. it's a binary issue and you're either biologically male or female. The guy who complained about the billboard (according to the DM at least) was complaining about it not being a transgender friendly definition.

I'm not sure how I feel about this, I'd need to have a think. But I do think it's a more complex issue than is being presented here...

Molokonono · 29/09/2018 12:07

But I do think it's a more complex issue than is being presented here...

None more complex than the absurdity that women cannot state they are women in 2018 without 'triggering' men and this makes women stating they are a woman, oppressive to men.

CaptainKirkssparetupee · 01/10/2018 11:34

They won't, they've probably been advised the best thing to do is keep quiet.

WokerThanWoke · 01/10/2018 11:51

Yes sadly I don't think they are going to come out with anything.
