Does factor 8 fluctuate throughout the day?

My 13 yr old DD's factor 8 result came back as 177.9%. (ref range 50 - 150%). The consultant I have spoken to said this result is nothing to worry about and discharged my DD. Because he was running late with appointments, I felt I was being rush and wasn't getting thoroughly explained answers. We were only in the consultant room for less than 5 mins.

Just seeing if anyone had a slightly elevated factor 8 and nothing to worry about?

It's my anxiety talking again. I need to trust the consultant but wished he spent longer time explaining the result. I would feel more reassured then.

If she takes regular medication, won't there be fluctuations throughout the day?

foodanddrink · 27/09/2018 09:10

No she does not take regular medication.

Why was her factor8 tested?

beanhunter · 27/09/2018 09:17

It can be elevated as a stress reponse - eg to taking blood. So I wouldn’t worry in the slightest.

@YeOldeTrout, because she has petechiae on and off. All other clotting blood tests, including von willebrand came back normal.

@beanhunter yes could be stress as she has difficult veins and it took half an hour to draw blood.

Sorry, one more bump for the evening crowd. Blush

Reassuring words welcome as I do suffer from health anxiety. Sad
