Anyone work for an airport, or are knowledgeable about passports PLEASE can you help?

DH has his first passport, we're due to fly from the UK to Turkey, today he's signed his passport, but he's done it under the line rather than over it, passport office have been no help saying it's up to immigration.
I'm really panicking now, what if they refuse him entry? Is that likely?

You have a UK passport yes? I have had a few passports and travelled all over but I have never singed my passport and never been refused entry to anywhere

No idea where you sign a passport.

You don't sign a passport, the signature is already electronically on the passport

When are you due to fly? Can you get a fast track appointment and just get a new one so you can be 100% sure? I do know one person who has had to get a new one because it was signed in the wrong place but they never tested it out on immigration first.

Very new passports do need a signature.

I didn't realise this and at the weekend when flying back into the UK the lady at passport control simply said "don't forget to sign it"

I can't imagine there will be that much (if any) fuss that he's signed under the line.

New passports are now signed after they have been received. They used to be electronically, but assume as this was a pita, they changed it.
I wouldn’t worry too much, as long as he hasn’t defaced it 🤷🏼‍♀️

Well my new passport I have not signed and travelled on it, nobody said a word 🤷🏻‍♀️ So I wouldn’t worry about it at all OP, he will be fine

I’ve just checked my sons new one and he hasn’t signed it. Not a problem when we travelled a few weeks ago. Didn’t even realise - there is no electronic signing there now just a place for Him to sign.

DS travelled on his 3 times before passport control suggested that he should perhaps sign it. I don't think they look that closely. If it's signed I wouldn't worry.

I'm an immigration officer and can say that as long as he has signed it, it doesn't matter if it's above or below the line. We're honestly just grateful you've remembered to sign it!

Yes you do sign a passport I have signed mine anytime I got a new one.

I highly doubt it will matter OP. As long as the signature is there
