Although I'm trying a different tactic this year - I've told DD we can throw a Halloween party - in the back garden, fancy dress, with loads of food and loud music - so we can't hear the door bell when the trick or treaters come and obviously we'll be too busy to go ourselves.
I will probably regret suggesting this though
