I didn't think I was going to, but I finally did, at the grand old age of 39. Now I feel a bit more like a proper grownup Grin.

Yay well done have fun driving 🤗

3in4years · 26/09/2018 11:31

Yippee! That'll give you a lot more freedom (and less money!). Good luck and take care. I started driving aged 30.

ShirleyPhallus · 26/09/2018 11:32

Ah congratulations!!

How did you find the test? Was it your first go?

colditz · 26/09/2018 11:36

Well done :)

LanguidLobster · 26/09/2018 11:36

Yay, well done!

Do we need to duck on the roads now...? ;)

Celticlassie · 26/09/2018 12:08

Oh great! I've just started taking lessons at the grand old age of 39 so will take heart from this!

choccybiscuit · 26/09/2018 12:11

Yay! I passed at 39 too! Congratulations!

BeautyQueenFromMars · 26/09/2018 12:11

Thanks all 😊

I've not got a car yet, so you're safe for now. I'll let you know when I'm out on the road by myself though, give you fair warning Wink.

I failed a couple of tests back in my early 20s, so not my first test ever, but in between failing and starting these lessons, I didn't get behind a wheel at all. So I'm going to pretend I passed first time.

Well done OP. I passed 2 years ago, in my early 40s. Like you I'd done tests when I was younger (though I was 17/18) and then gave up because I thought I'd never pass.

2 years on it is the best thing I have ever done. I can't believe I wasted so many years not driving!

Enjoy your freedom :)

BeautyQueenFromMars · 26/09/2018 12:14

@Celticlassie, yes, you can do this! Best thing my instructor told me was to assess upcoming situations early, so you can make decisions in plenty of time and not have to panic at the last minute. Best of luck Flowers.

Congratulations!

cheesefield · 26/09/2018 12:26

Well done OP! I did this year too, age 34!

RibbonAurora · 26/09/2018 12:34

Congratulations OP! It's a fantastic feeling, right? Next stage is asking yourself why you waited so long. I was, like VelvetSpoon, in my early 40s when I passed mine and even 10 years on I still sometimes get a little thrill of incredulous 'I'm driving, I'm actually driving' pride when I get in my car.

Good luck with yours Celticlassie, you can do this!

delphguelph · 26/09/2018 12:36

It's hard isn't it

Congratulations 🎊

Hidingtonothing · 26/09/2018 12:42

Oh congrats OP! I’m taking heart from your success too, I’m 43 and currently trying to find the courage (and money) to learn. Do you have a plan for when you’re getting a car? Hope you’re on the road soon, no need to warn us, I’m sure you’ll be fine Smile

Monday55 · 26/09/2018 12:43

Well done & enjoy the freedom it brings Wine

Lavalamped · 26/09/2018 12:48

Congratulations!

Halfahunnerstillastunner · 26/09/2018 12:52

Well done OP, great achievement. (I would honestly rather give birth than sit my driving test again, I was sick with nerves.) Enjoy, you will love the independence this brings 🚗

BeautyQueenFromMars · 04/10/2018 10:30

Did my first solo drive this morning, dropped DS off at school and then drove to work. I shook the whole way, but I did it with no issues or incidents. So take heart, all you learners; if I can do it, you definitely can!

Well done OP. I passed at 17 then didn't drive for 10 years. I was an absolute wreck driving but it's all about practise. Get out and about if you can (I used to drive with DH as he's a brilliant, calm passenger, super helpful without being critical). Now, I'm out and about everywhere and am so grateful I was able to learn.

chocoholicanon · 04/10/2018 10:40

Congratulations I passed when I was 39 too. I was determined to do it before I reached 40. Enjoy the freedom of jumping in your car and going wherever you want, when you want!

JiltedJohnsJulie · 04/10/2018 10:57

That is fabulous news. I rember my DAunty passing here at a similar age and enjoying all of the freedom it gave her.

Well done OP Thanks

MinecraftHolmes · 04/10/2018 10:59
