Kids hiding places

My son has decided it would be a good idea to hide my keys, he is only 3 so when I ask him where they are the only response I get is “I don’t remember”

I am completely out of ideas as to where they could be, what are some of the more obscure places you have found things, your kids have hidden?

Look at your home from the height of a 3 year old.
Sofas are great places for hiding stuff, down the edges of cushions up under loose covers.

Every single bloody shoe!

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 26/09/2018 10:44

Coats hanging up have pockets at 3 year height

Ds 3 lost dh's keys. They were on top of a wardrobe as Daddy Pig did that apparently!!

I’ve already looked in coat pockets, shoes, kitchen cupboards/drawers, toy boxes, in/around the sofa, bins, washing and bags

I will look on top of the wardrobes next, he does love it when daddy pig throws things in the air and say “hoopla”

Ours buried the sole back door key in the vegetable patch.

Fortunately he remembered exactly where and led us straight to them.

Unfortunately he didn't recall what he had done with my watch.

SevenOf1981 · 26/09/2018 10:56

We found daddy's bank card in the hollow of his guitar...

Racecardriver · 26/09/2018 10:58

This happened to us once. We turn the whole house upside down twice. It was in the detergent drawer of the washing machine.

MissCherryCakeyBun · 26/09/2018 11:01

I found my keys caught down the back of the radiator 5 years later when I was decoratingConfused I'd looked best I could but this was in the early 90's so well before phones with cameras.
She had no idea at all where they were.....a friends daughter posted hers through the letterbox the wrong way and they were hidden between the 2 flaps Grin. Inside toys with bonnets/boots and under seats of ride on toys has been a favourite in the days she did such things

LouiseEH · 26/09/2018 11:01

Don’t have a garden, I know they’re in the flat 100%

I’m at a loss, I’m honestly starting to think i’ll never see them again

Thank you for the ideas, will look as soon as I get a chance, hearing your stories have put a smile back on my face lol

Have you tried giving him something else to hide?

Iolaus84 · 26/09/2018 11:09

Saucepans, I've found toast crusts and bits of banana in them. In their pants (while wearing them)?

Aprilshowersnowastorm · 26/09/2018 11:10

Cash /sweets as a reward for the return?

Wagonwheelsandjammydodgers · 26/09/2018 11:12

Washing machine? Bin? Toy box? Give him another key to 'hide' ...

Vanillaradio · 26/09/2018 11:15

Are there any toys you can put things inside. Like inside toy car or house, in oven of toy kitchen, in box on back of bike etc. Pockets of clothes he has been wearing, or on book shelf between books. Under pillow or in the bed somewhere? (you can tell my ds used to do this sort of thing a lot.)

WhyDontYouListen · 26/09/2018 11:16

Mine used to be obsessed with putting things inside other things, boxes, purses, well just about anything really that could be used to contain something else. Good luck with your search.

EinsteinsArousedSausagesHCB · 26/09/2018 11:20

Inside one of the toys, any with a door or a hollow space.

steppemum · 26/09/2018 11:23

anything postable, bin, letterbox, toys, under lids, inside boxes.

Thatstheendofmytether · 26/09/2018 11:24

Sofa
Cupboards
Drawers
Bed, down the side or back of the bed and in the bed
The fridge/freezer (where my son used to put every picture he drew)
Behind curtains
In toy boxes
Shelves
In any vases or ornaments you have
Behind picture frames
In shoes
Inside toys
Under/behind cushions
Under all the furniture.

I'm a childminder and a mother and have found things in all of these places and more. One of my minded kids kept putting toys in my shoes 😂

averylongtimeago · 26/09/2018 11:24

In the toilet?

Thatstheendofmytether · 26/09/2018 11:26

My son also took my dps new 50 quid ps4 controller the day he bought it, put it in a spider man lunch box (which was rarely used because he had not started school yet), zipped it up and put it I. the cupboard. My dp was going through the outside bins and everything and I got the blame of throwing it away for 3 months until I found it when packing up for a pic nic one day 😂. Wasn't funny at the time right enough!

tillytoodles1 · 26/09/2018 11:27

On the radiator hinge that holds it to the wall, that's where my watch was.the kids had been dropping it down the back and it got stuck so they left it there.

IfIWasABirdIdFlyIn2ACeilingFan · 26/09/2018 11:30

Get him roped into the search process. Tell him it’s a competition and there is a reward for whoever finds them. His brain might subconsciously direct him to where he his them.

kezzy13 · 26/09/2018 11:30

I'm trying to ask my 4 year old for ideas but keep getting told "we're not allowed to hide keys" sorry no help whatsoever!

IfIWasABirdIdFlyIn2ACeilingFan · 26/09/2018 11:32

Does he have toy trucks or cars or play house etc? He may have been pretending to drive his trucks or lock his house.
