Bleurgh. A thin scraping is all that's required.

whifflesqueak · 26/09/2018 09:56

A thin scrape of marmite on a thick layer of butter. That’s the only way.

hugoagogo · 26/09/2018 09:59

dd tells me you tube is full of nubers having their first taste of marmite; great big spoonfuls!
I despair of the human race.

You can't eat thick layers of marmite!!A lovely thin scraping on freshly buttered toast is heavenly.

vampirethriller · 26/09/2018 10:15

Thick for me sorry... I can eat it from the jar with a spoon though.

hugoagogo · 26/09/2018 10:27

I have licked it off a spoon, but I am a hardened marmite addict- it's not entry level.Grin

I quite agree. I do occasionally like to dunk breadsticks in it though Grin

SlightAggrandising · 26/09/2018 10:30

Mouth is watering at the prospect of eating it from the jar.

Nottheduchessofcambridge · 26/09/2018 10:32

well I sort of agree, if it’s your first taste then it should be spread thinly. Seasoned marmite lovers though can eat it out of the jar, like me ☺️Mmmmmmm

vampirethriller · 26/09/2018 10:37

Entry level marmite 😂

TimeIhadaNameChange · 26/09/2018 10:38

I still remember seeing a friend's son eating marmite on toast at his house about 20 years ago. There was a think, good few mm of marmite standing up above the toast. Really don't know how he could eat it.

Florries · 26/09/2018 10:41

Hot toast, real, salted butter. (None of this spread malarky) and a thin scraping if marmite. Glass of milk. Phhwooorrr.

MissMalteser · 26/09/2018 10:44

I mix my butter and marmite in a bowl first before spreading 😍 why has marmite flavoured butter not been invented yet?

CleanHankie · 26/09/2018 11:56

I once had some casual work in a leisure centre cafe and was tasked with making the packaged sandwiches in the morning. This included the kids ones (jam/cheese/ham/marmite). It wasn't till Day 4 that someone spotted me making the marmite ones and informed me that it shouldn't be spread thick like jam!
I'm not a marmite eater but thought it should be spread like that esp as you could then see the marmite when the sandwiches were cut in triangles and packaged up. We still sold all the sarnies but I still think of all those poor kids who struggled thru marmite hell

LookImAHooman · 26/09/2018 12:33

Clean That’s seriously made me lol 😂 Those poor kids indeed 😂

Marmite27 · 26/09/2018 12:34

I spread it thick. My brother once mistook my marmite on toast for Nutella on toast Grin he doesn’t like it and his face was a picture!

Marmite27 · 26/09/2018 12:35

And stole a slice that should say Blush

JaneJeffer · 26/09/2018 12:40

Also if you eat It from the spoon you just need to coat the spoon, not fill it up. Yum
