Alternative to specs on a chain around my neck?

Due to the nature of my job, its really impractical to keep getting my glasses from my office or keeping them in my pocket. Is there a solution that isnt having them on a chain around my neck or should I just do it and own it?!

Contact lenses. I have a single lens used for reading, the other eye is not corrected. Gives slightly less stereoscopic vision, I'm told, but I haven't noticed any difference.

I intended laser correction in one eye but the clinic refused to do it unless i had successfully corrected with contact lens for 6 months first. I tried the lens and it is so simple and convenient I decided not to bother with laser.

try vari or bi-focals, you just keep them on all the time.

stellabird · 26/09/2018 07:06

I use vari-focals. Top area is for long distance, middle for looking at screens, bottom part for reading . It took about a week to get used to them, now I wear them all the time.

I wear mine on the top of my head until I need them...

PyongyangKipperbang · 26/09/2018 11:16

I cant afford new glasses so vari-focals/contacts are out for the moment.

I currently wear them on my head but I am a bugger for losing them so hoped there might be a more stylish solution than having them on a chain :o

You just hook one leg of the glasses through the circle and the dangle down.

X post

That necklace looks good, because the thought has occurred that I could very well lose the little magnetic gizmo, knowing me :o

Just own it. Get some retro style glasses and a fabulous gold chain. Joan from Mad Men wore glasses on a chain and looked awesome.

Bluesheep8 · 26/09/2018 12:43

I'm sure I've seen some kind of holder that you pin on like a brooch and hook the glasses through by the arms. On qvc think....

MaudesMum · 26/09/2018 13:18

I found the chain got tangled, but then I am quite clumsy. I tend to tuck one arm of the glasses down my top, but that works better with highish necked tops than, say, shirts with a couple of buttons undone. I'm afraid I've exposed my bra on a couple of occasions...

Well I can highly recommend a Speclace! Ordered 2 from amazon, the chain one is fab. Am waiting for the leather thong version for work to turn up, but I really like how it works.

Are they reading or distance glasses? The former you can get for £1 in Poundland so can leave them everywhere.

What type of clothing do you usually wear? If I need to take my glasses off I hook them into my neckline. I usually wear contacts though, I’m minus 3 so don’t need reading glasses.

PyongyangKipperbang · 30/09/2018 01:13

They are reading glasses but because I have weird eyes, each eye needs a different prescription so I cant just buy a pair for £1. Wish I could!

I was thinking of asking this exact same question earlier on today. Forgot all about it; thanks for doing it for me! Grin

I have an elastic keeper thing. It goes over both arms and round the back of my head. First started wearing one for golf. It keeps the them in place whether on my head or on my nose!
