What do you do when ...

You see someone on the train, and think it may be someone you knew a few years ago through work, but you are uncertain as it has been a few years and you only met them a few times. You can't remember their name as you are terrible at remembering names (and as it goes faces too!). What do you do if anything?

This has happened to me twice in the past 2 weeks and I wasn't sure if I should say hello and ask if they used to work at X place or leave it as surely if they did know or remember me, they would say hello too?

A polite nod and a smile in those circumstances if they want to speak they will.

@Justanotheruser01 I smiled but I didn't nod. What's the nod for? And how do I do it?

I dont mean an actual nod probably nod is the wrong word haha
